Honu Favorite Sea Creature for My Favorite Hop Post
Every Sunday, I try to participate in an event titled, My Favorite Hop. Each week our hostess Sara @sarae.furr_thecraftyfarmchick selects a 'favorite' for us to focus upon and share our interpretation of our favorites.
This week on the hop, we were asked to share our favorite sea creature.
Since I know of no lizards in the ocean, I chose the sea turtle or honu, as it is called in Hawaii, to showcase for you today.
When we lived in Hawaii--where our son was born--we discovered that the honu is a symbol of good luck, wisdom, endurance/long life, and strong family connections.
This card was crafted up with the following items from @tcwstencils :
Ocean Mist, Beach Grass, & Seafoam Stencil Butters were mixed to create the #TCW847S stencil Wave background. I simply used my palette knife to grab a tiny bit of each butter from the lid and placed it upon my stencil in various spots and mixed it together.
When the stenciled had sufficiently air dried, I ran it through the die cutting machine with the square card base layer die from @divinitydesignsllc .
Using the #TCW610S mini sea turtle stencil, I mixed up Sage, Fern, & Terre Verte Stencil Butters to make the three mini turtles. I actually mixed up enough butter to stencil a total of nine mini turtles. They will be in a future project I am sure of. Utilizing my scissors, I fussy cut the honu out and set aside to add later on to my project.
The square card base layer from #divinitydesignsllc was used to die cut the beautiful beaches paper out; and the wave stencil panel was adhered atop it with Bearly Art Glue.
Checking my ribbon stash, I found three ribbons that I could finally use to accent this card. The bright blue lined ribbon was added first. I just placed Sookwang double stick 1/2" tape onto the back and adhered to the card. Next, the darker green sheer ribbon was added in a similar manner with a bow. Lastly, the brown sentiment "Together is a wonderful place to be!," ribbon was added with double stick tape. I have had that last ribbon for 21 years! Originally, I bought it to go on a scrapbook layout that never made it out of my creative skull. Talk about holding onto something for a long time. At least I finally used it. {The first blue ribbon was from a third-grade costume I had to make for my daughter... in 2011.}
A square card base was created with Neenah 80 lb cardstock. Divinity's weathered wood paper was glued atop the card base; and then the wavy layer adorned with ribbon was added with glue.
