Good Morning to all! I have been on a birthday card kick lately. I have to admit, that the new Alice's Story Birthday Sentiments allows me to stamp and create 15 to 17 sentiments at one time, so in order to use up all the sentiments, I need to make more birthday cards!
Don't fight the feelin' I say, craft on!!!
So This Calls For Confetti has a lot of new items in their store--do go on over there and check it out.
The Cloche Hot Foil plates is a new release item and it has five new elements to help one create the perfect dessert :)
I have to admit, I am not the best hot foil person, but I got it done. Not gonna fib, several attemps were made until it was done properly. I think the best advice I am able to give, is be patient when hot foiling; especially if you are new to it.
Unfortunatley I have no photos to share with you on hot foiling, but if you google it, you will find a ton of reference videos to help you out. Sadly, my Platinum Die Cutting Machine is now dead and a new one on order.
Basically you plug in the attachment, named the Glimmer Hot Foil System & let it heat up. There are three lights on the left side that will help you know when it is on, when the platform is ready to heat up your plate, and then a timer button. See photo below:

Glimmer Hot Foil System in it's docking staion.
It takes about ten to fifteen minutes to heat up. The top light will be on and when the platform is ready, then the second light will light up as well. Once the platform is hot, place the die upon the gray grid area, next the trimmed foil you have selected to use, atop it, and make sure that you have the shiny side next to the foil plate---- because other wise you will end up foiling the adhesive/wrong side of the foil. This will not look the way you intended nor a result you will be happy with!
Press the timer button and await the light to stop flashing.
The paper goes next and then put the hot foil shims atop that, PULL the glimmer system out of the docking station, and put into your die cutting machine to run it through. Now you have a wonderfully foiled shape!
*****BE CAREFUL TO NOT JAR THE GLIMMER SYSTEM WHEN EXECUTING THIS STEP BECAUSE
DOING SO, WILL SMUDGE THE FOIL.***
Belive me, I speak from experience.
To create the cake; Red (Aged Mahogany and Candied Apple) Distress Inks were used with the Three Tier Layering Cake Stencils and Die set from This Calls for Confetti. Red Velvet Cake is our family's favorite hence my red cake creation!
The cake stand portion of the stencil is a layer of Marcasite Stardust Butter from The Crafters Workshop Butter product line.
The cake was die cut with TCFC corresponding die for the three tier cake.
I placed my foiled topper atop my already distress inked cake and glued it into place.
The Arched Lattice Circles Stencil and Die Set helped me create the arched portion of the background panel. Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar are the two Distress Inks that were used for the arched panel. Once the panel was dry, it was die cut, and glued into place atop a dark smokey gray cardstock.
It became necessary to create my own card base to fit this extended sized cake/panel combination. The layers were too magical in my opinion to trim down; therefore my final card size is 4 11/16" w by 6 15/16"h.
**I will hand deliver this or make my own envelope if I need to mail it.**
I guled the gray and arched panel onto the card base; and then I used foam tape to pop up the cake and floral cake topper and added that to the panel. Glued the previously crafted sentiment on and added some Iridescent Dew Drops to the cake for a final touch.
Hope you enjoyed my tutorial on cake making and decorating! Ha ha, I bet this would taste as good as it looks!
Have a wonderfully crafty day peeps!
Crafty hugs, Love, LIZARD 🦎
xoxo
